Samdock

Connect Samdock with an access token and send single companies as an organization and a lead.

With Samdock you hand a company from Webmetic over to your sales team, for example a machine builder that read your pricing page this week. At the end you'll have:

  • Samdock connected to your Webmetic account
  • a request in the Samdock inbox for every company you send, with the data for an organization and a lead
  • a lead named after the company, either right away or after you verify the request in Samdock

Before you start

  • Time: Setup takes a few minutes, and after that you send each company with one click.
  • Account: You need a Webmetic account with a website where Webmetic has already identified companies.
  • Access: You need a Samdock account in which you can create inbound sources.
  • Rights: Only admins see the Integrations menu item. If a partner runs your account under its own name, this integration isn't available yet. Once Samdock is connected, every user can transfer companies with the Send to Samdock button.
  • Plan: Integrations are part of every plan, including the Free plan. On the Free plan, Webmetic only transfers the companies you see by name. For details, see Free plan.
  • Cost: The integration costs no credits.

1. Create a source in Samdock

Webmetic sends every company to an inbound source that you create in Samdock. The ID of this source is your access token for Webmetic.

  1. In Samdock, click Settings.
  2. Click Inbox Center Settings.
  3. Click New source.
  4. Choose Custom API source.
  5. If the source offers to create requests as leads right away, turn that on. Otherwise you verify every request in Samdock by hand.
  6. Copy the ID of the source. You find it at the end of the URL that Samdock shows for the source.

2. Connect Samdock

  1. Click Menu > Integrations > Samdock. Under What is sent, the Samdock window shows what Webmetic creates.

  2. Click Connect to Samdock. The window shows a field for the access token.

  3. Paste the ID of the source into the Access token field.

  4. Click Save. Webmetic checks the access token with Samdock.

If the access token is valid, the window is now called Samdock settings and shows the status Connected to Samdock, and there is nothing else for you to set here.

If you click Cancel before you save, the window takes you back to the explanation.

3. Send a company

You send each company on its own from its profile. Webmetic doesn't send companies by itself, and it doesn't send whole lists or segments either.

  1. Open a company in the company list. The profile opens.
  2. On the right, under Manage data, click Send to Samdock. The button now shows Sent to Samdock with a green dot.

Webmetic starts the transfer right away in the background. Manage data shows where the section sits in a narrow browser window.

What is sent

For each company you send, Webmetic sends one request with an organization and a lead, and it leaves out empty fields.

RecordWhat Webmetic sends
OrganizationName, website, street, postal code, city, email address, phone, fax, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
Organization, additional detailsThe country, managing directors, industry codes, short description, logo, YouTube, a link to the company in Webmetic, the activity, the number of visits in total and in the last 7 days, the last visit, the total visit duration in seconds, the most visited page, and the most frequent UTM campaign, UTM source, UTM medium, and UTM content
LeadThe company name

Webmetic sends the additional details as custom fields. Whether and where Samdock shows them in your account is up to Samdock.

The visit figures only count your account's visits to the website you send the company from, as they stand when you send. The short description is always in German, even if you use the dashboard in English.

Webmetic doesn't mark the organization you send as a customer in Samdock. Employee count, revenue, the long description, relevance, fit, tags, comments, and contacts stay in Webmetic, and so do individual visits and page views.

Behavior after sending

  • Webmetic sends each company once, with the data it has at that moment. Later changes and new visits you see in Webmetic don't reach Samdock.
  • Webmetic doesn't look for existing organizations in Samdock and doesn't link existing records.
  • Webmetic never changes or deletes a record in Samdock, and nothing comes back from Samdock into Webmetic.
  • If you click Sent to Samdock, Webmetic takes the company out without asking. Whatever is already in Samdock stays there.

Sending again creates a second record

If you send a company again after taking it out, Webmetic sends another request with a new organization and a new lead to Samdock. Check in Samdock first whether the company is already there.

Check the transfer

  1. In Samdock, open the inbox in the Inbox Center.
  2. Look for the request that carries the company's name.
  3. If Samdock created a lead from the request right away, you find it under Pending. Otherwise, verify the request in the inbox.

The Sent to Samdock button only means that Webmetic has queued the company for sending. If sending fails, Webmetic doesn't try again, and the dashboard shows no message.

If the request is still missing in Samdock after a few minutes, click Sent to Samdock in the profile and then Send to Samdock. Every new send creates a new request, so first check carefully that the request is really missing.

Disconnect

  1. Click Menu > Integrations > Samdock.
  2. Click Disconnect. Webmetic doesn't ask for confirmation and disconnects.

You keep all data in Samdock, Webmetic no longer uses the access token, and every profile shows the Send to Samdock button again.

To connect again, you enter the access token again in the Samdock window. If you then send a company that is already in Samdock, Webmetic creates a new request there.

If disconnecting fails, Webmetic shows no message. So check that the window shows the Connect to Samdock button again afterwards.

Troubleshooting

Why doesn't Webmetic accept the access token?

If the window stays on the access token field after you click Save, Samdock didn't accept the token, and Webmetic shows no message about it.

Copy the ID of the source in Samdock again, paste it into the field once more, and click Save.

Why is the button missing in the profile?

Without a connection to Samdock, you don't see a button for sending in the profile. In that case, ask an admin to complete steps 1 and 2.

On the Free plan, the button is also missing for companies whose name you don't see.
